Faribault is set along the beautiful Lake Country of southern Minnesota.  The Faribault area serves as a perfect backdrop for a refreshing vacation or family outing.  The relaxed lifestyle and picturesque surroundings draw many people to Faribault.  Whether it is our lakes, history, shopping or recreation, they all combine to make Faribault a perfect place to visit.

LAKES: Our 10 area lakes and two rivers create the scene for fishing, boating, canoeing, restful walks by the water and even hearing some fish stories while at a local resort.

HISTORY: Faribault is rich with historic sites.  Faribault has more buildings on the national historic register in its downtown than any other out-state city.  Faribault is home to the world famous Tilt-A-Whirl ride and also to Shattuck St. Mary’s school and the State Academies for the deaf and blind.

SHOPPING: While shopping in our beautiful historic downtown you will find lots of antique and specialty shops.  Be sure to visit the Paradise Center for the Arts and take in a play or just visit its elegant art gallery.  The downtown also features a wonderful candy store called Sweet Spot Candies and the historic Burkhartzmeyer Shoes which has been in business since 1949.  Donahues Greenhouse and Farmers Seed and Nursery and are both nationwide distributors – Donahues is renowned for clematis and poinsettias – and Farmers Seed is the famous catalog company. Both make great stops in the spring and at Christmas time. A trip to Faribault is never complete without a stop at the new Cheese Cave store in the downtown that not only sells the world famous cheese made from Faribault Dairy, but also has homemade soups and sandwiches with a unique atmosphere.

RECREATION:Faribault has 10 miles of walking/biking trails and is the hub for both the Sakatah state trail and the soon to be completed Mill Towns Trail.  Visit River Bend Nature Center and you’ll be delighted by the trails and programs offered. Faribault also has 3 golf courses, a BMX Track, archery, horse shoes, softball, baseball, paintball course and one of the best Aquatic Centers in the area.
